Abstract

Since the Fukushima accident, international efforts have been made to increase the safety of power reactors by seeking to extend the times in which emergency systems can be activated in the event of an accident. This can be achieved by selecting nuclear fuel materials that meet these requirements, thus emerging advanced technology fuels (ATF). Within the IAEA ATF-TS project, the Codes and Models Section participates with the DIONISIO code in efforts to model the behavior of such fuels. This work exposes the progress made in the inclusion of models for Cr2O3 doped UO2 pellets and their validation with experimental data provided by the ATF-TS project.
