USE OF BIOMASIC WASTE FOR THE GENERATION OF ENERGY AND VALUATION OF THE ASHES GENERATED FROM SUCH PROCESSES

In recent years, strategies have been adopted to achieve more sustainable economic growth, based on the circular economy approach. As a result of this new approach, efforts have been intensified to find renewable energy sources and propose efficient options for reusing valuable waste stream originating from production cycles. The use of residual biomass offers attractive perspectives, the most important being generally the decontamination that occurs when eliminating this waste, and also the energy that can be generated with its use. In Argentina, many companies have been created to produce energy from fuels derived from their biomass waste. When these are burned to produce electricity or heat, ash will inevitably be produced and, consequently, alternative reuse strategies are required. In this work, some of the main energy generators from residual biomass in the country are presented and the potential application of the ashes generated in one of them as aggregate in ceramic matrices is studied, evaluating their physico-mechanical properties.
