Abstract

The recent construction of viaducts throughout the City of Buenos Aires has focused on the phenomena inherent to this type of elevated construction. One of the aspects that deserve special attention is the influence of the crosswinds on the formations that circulate above level, since they take on a larger dimension due to the terrestrial boundary layer. The latter arises from the interaction of air currents with the ground, characterized by an increase in relative wind speed as the distance from the ground increases. Regarding the construction adopted by the afore mentioned viaducts, they consist of acoustic panels that, given their shape, have an influence on the moment of overturning of cars due to crosswinds. Finally, this work will be oriented to know how this moment is affected by the presence of these plates.
