Abstract

In this work, we will discuss the basic concepts of solid lubrication and explore the challenges that are being addressed by employing different types of solid lubricants and coatings. Cutting-edge materials and application techniques will be presented, highlighting the advantages offered by each of them and their diverse fields of application. The focus will be on advanced sectors such as the aerospace industry and electric mobility. Finally, the opportunities and research directions with the greatest potential in the field of solid lubrication will be outlined.
