Abstract

A traffic accident is an unforeseen event that usually takes place on public roads and affects at least one vehicle. In these incidents, a collision, impact or contact occurs between the elements involved, and can be caused by a variety of factors, such as human error, adverse weather conditions, mechanical failures, traffic violations, distractions at the wheel or violations of road safety regulations. The severity of traffic accidents can vary, from minor collisions with minimal damage to serious accidents with fatal consequences. The reconstruction of a traffic accident involves carefully analyzing the evidence and circumstances of the event in order to determine how it occurred, identify the underlying causes and evaluate the responsibility of each of the parties involved. This reconstruction uses scientific methods and specialized techniques, such as braking analysis, speed calculation, damage inspection and the study of collision patterns, in order to obtain an accurate version of the facts and contribute to the understanding of the accident. In this paper, a methodology that stands out for its simplicity and precision in the reconstruction of accidents is presented. This methodology offers a notable advantage by avoiding the subjectivity inherent in the interpretation of experts, as well as the use of complex and expensive computer programs. By adopting the proposed approach, reliable results are obtained efficiently, facilitating the understanding and analysis of the facts in accident reconstruction.
