Abstract

This paper presents an option to reduce the risk and improve the safety in the transport of merchandise that is carried out by using of overhead cranes (bridge cranes) and, mainly, in what refers to the operation of 2 or more of it simultaneously in the same track structure.
By using the international reference standards, the controlled safety systems are described and the values that determine the level of performance that can be delivered in each case are calculated.
In conclusion, it is shown that the systems are apt to effectively reduce the risk of collision between them.
