In November 2022, the Board of Directors of the Facultad Regional Paraná, under the Resolution No. 521, provided institutional endorsement, deeming the proposal of the Conference on Engineering Teaching (JEIN, by its initials in Spanish) to be of interest.
The Conference on Engineering Teaching, which is organized by the “Educational Technology and Engineering Teaching Program” from the Rectorship of the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN), takes place every two years and in 2023 it was hosted by the UTN, Facultad Regional Paraná.
The program is deeply committed to sharing, among others, teaching experiences, advances on research projects and/or extensión activities, degree projects, thesis, dissertations, final integration papers, and scholars research projects with the entire UTN community and other higher level educational entities. The topic areas proposed at the Conference were as follows:
- Technologies Applied to Education (TAE)
- Didactics at the University and University Teaching Practice
- Teaching of Engineering and Training for Engineers
- Teaching and Learning Evaluation
- Curricular Innovation in Engineering
- Education for Sustainable Development (EDS) and University Social Responsibility (USR).
- Linking Research with Engineering Teaching.
- Linking High School with University for Engineering Careers.
- Engineering Teaching: traditional, online and/or hybrid rooms (synchronous/asynchronous
online and/or face-to-face classes)
In this Ninth Edition, more than 50 papers were submitted to be assessed and evaluated by an evaluation committee formed for that purpose.
The Conference was held in online mode on Thursday, September 7 and Friday, September 8, 2023, with opening and closing plenary presentations given by leading figures in engineering education, in addition to synchronous activities offered through video rooms, where the works were presented through temporary windows to the educational community and, afterwards, there was an exchange of opinions, discussions and debates with the authors present.
The essential aspect of the Conference is the diversity of the papers presented and the exchange among colleagues focused on improving the teaching and learning processes for the different Engineering branches. In this document, and through the compilation of papers, we want to share what we experienced in the month of September 2023.
