Abstract

This work shows a comparative study of total sulphating agents present in the atmosphere between an urban and industrial area of the city of Rosario with samplers that contain lead dioxide as a reagent for capturing these.
The sampling methodology is of the passive type, exposing the samplers to minimum periods of one month and up to more than one year, depending on the design of the sampler and the concentration of sulphating agents existing in the atmospheric air.
When comparing the annual SO2 deposition rates obtained at both sites, it was found that theym agree with the characteristics of the studied atmospheres with respect to those established as reference in the ISO 9223-12 standard.
The annual SO2 deposition rates obtained for the industrial zone were approximately 12 times mhigher than those obtained for the urban zone, which allows us to conclude that there are significant differences in the concentrations of sulphating agents in both sites.
