Abstract

Throughout my PhD, I will focus on the development of nanostructured catalysts based on mesoporous materials, modified with active nanoparticles, for their application in obtaining 5-hydroxymethyl furfural (5-HMF) from simple carbohydrates (exoses); and the subsequent hydrogenation of HMF to 2,5-dimethyl furan (2,5- DMF), a product of high energetic value.
