Abstract

In this work, the nonlinear behavior of the parametric pendulum is studied using the first Lyapunov characteristic exponent. By means of this indicator, regions of the parameter space where rotary and oscillatory responses coexist are identified. This study is part of a research line aiming to extract wave energy through pendulum systems, so identifying forcing parameters that cause responses of interest through simple methods is necessary.
